To detox or not?

I have officially been exercising regularly for nearly three months. I am pretty happy with this as I usually slip back into my old habits after a week or two. I have definitely seen an improvement in my fitness and a change in my body shape. I haven't lost weight though as I have not changed my diet. My social life seems to revolve around food; birthday dinners, drinks after work, catch up lunches with friends, cheese and wine on Sunday get the picture right? Lately I have been feeling a little "sluggish" and am definitely hearing my bodies pleas to start eating better and limiting my alcohol intake, I just seem to be really good at ignoring it.

I have been considering a detox for awhile - a fresh start and a break for my body. I read that Lady Smaggle had just completed the Blackmore's 10 day detox and had a look into it. I like the idea of this detox as they give you a meal plan which actually lets you eat a fair amount of food - as long as its healthy. This is also supplemented with a number of vitamins to help restore your digestive system. So I just wanted to put it out there - have you detoxed? Why, why not? If you have did you find it useful? I would love to get some more information about other peoples experiences before I  embark on my own detox.

  1. I remember a friend from work tried the lemon detox...I think she lasted that morning, she caved at lunch.

  2. Congratulations on keeping up with your exercise!!! :) I have never tried a detox, but like you I am curious so I would love to know how it goes if you do decide to embark on one. Changing my diet has been one of the hardest things for me! I LOVE to eat!!! I have been keeping track of what I eat in a food journal although I don't count calories (seems like a waste not to count calories, but I just can't get all strict like that - writing what I eat down does help though because I notice I'm not eating as bad because I don't want to write it down and also I don't eat as late because I also write down the times I eat). I was in such a rut when I first starting working out because I was exercising my heart out without dropping any weight until I gave up my beloved Budlight! After I stopped drinking beer I could tell a major difference. It has now been 8 months since my last beer!!! I never thought it would be possible. Good luck Megan!!!

  3. Nice work! I'm also considering detoxing. I am a little worried about it, I recently read that instead of doing the store bought detox kits first time an alternate option is to just cut out processed food, caffeine and alcohol. So for a few days just eat fresh fruit and veggies and drink water only, lots and lots of water. Apparently this is effective and helps eliminate all the bad toxins and stuff from your system. I will be giving it a go next week! Hope you find a detox to suit you. :)

  4. i cant detox due to medications i take, but i have started exercising and (mostly) eating better and i feel a lot better!

  5. I love the idea of a detox. I can't do one because of my allergies and medication I'm on, but I would love to know how you go if you decide to do one!

  6. someone once told me that weight loss is 80% about diet and only 20% about exercise. i have to admit that this rings true for my body type but that hasn't been the case for every one else that i know.

way to go for being regular in exercise! that is not easy and you are awesome!
