Goals

It's the first of March and I am now just realising goals I want to achieve for the year. It has kind of been nice to work my way into the year and figure out what I want to do.

My first goal is kind of embarassing and I feel like Oprah making this my goal for another year in a row but I want to get healthier. My biggest problem is food, portion control is a foreign concept to me so is self control. As soon as there is a delicious treat in front of me I can't help myself, even if I am full I manage to find room for more. In an effort to do something about it I am seeing a food coach. I had my first meeting today and am feeling so motivated. I feel that having someone to be accountable to will be really helpful for me in achieving my goals and keeping me motivated.

My other goal is to budget efficently. I really want to start travelling as much as possible and that means being smarter with my money. For the next two weeks I am keeping a record of every cent that I spend to try and figure out how my money seems to just slip through my fingers. I am aiming to go to New Zealand in July and hopefully having that goal in mind will help me out.

  1. i think your two goals are wonderful ones :) many people make the same goal (to get healthier) but never take that first step, that food coach is really going to help. i need some budget efficiency as well, sigh. goodluck!

  3. great goals! you sound like my identical twin when talking about your "food problems". i find that i have the will power to make healthy decisions when given the opportunity, but if someone chooses for me or there is food out for grabs i can not control myself. please keep us updated on the food coach process. i am anxious to see if it helps you (which i hope it does).

  4. Both wonderful goals. I too need to monitor my food portions. And to start exercising. I'm trying to drink more water too.

And money. Yeh I need a budget too and I think it's a good idea to write it all down. I need a new job first. x

  5. Food is so, so tough and I share this battle with you. I cannot keep a sweet in the house or I am doomed. If I'm not eating...I'm thinking about eating. It's a circle that never ends. But you're so right: having someone to be accountable to makes a world of difference! Ever since I started working with a personal trainer at the gym, I started to feel like I had to be accountable for both of us. To eat an entire plate of cookies is disrespect to me and to the time she puts into getting me healthier. When I can't say no...I draw on the guilt I'll feel when I see her again!

Anyway...blah, blah. Just wanted to say that I so feel you, and support your new goal! It's such a huge step to decide to tackle it...but you'll do so great. :)

  6. Oh Megan, I have the exact same goals. I'm baffled by how much money I spend, and it's so hard to get a grip on eating right consistently. I'm eager to hear what your food coach says!

  7. Fantastic goals, lovely lady. I also have issues with portion control, which them turns into a motivation issue. I'm sending you success vibes!

Also, WHEN you come to NZ, you know you'll have a place to stay in Auckland! :)x

  8. That makes two of us Megan! I've put on weight since my new job at the pub. I have to get in shape before my wedding... but like you I love yummy treats.

  9. Would love to hear how your food coach sessions go. I always eat way too much because even though I'm full, I love the taste!

  10. Nice set of goals. I think being goal oriented is always a good thing, it's nice to have something to work for and to be able to achieve it is such a nice feeling of accomplishment. Good luck with that!
