Now your in New York

I have never been good at keeping secrets. I am the last person you want to have as your Secret Santa, you will know that I have you and what your getting well before christmas day. I had promised myself that I wouldn't share this news until I had an airfare firmly planted in my hand but excitement has got the better of me and I just want to scream from the rooftops that I am going to NEW YORK at the start of October. Remember how I was meant to go to New Zealand in June - well unfortunately that fell through and so instead of being bummed I decided to be spontaneous and messaged one of my good friends to ask if she wanted to come to America with me for two weeks. Within five minutes I got an excited "YES" reply and now were in the fun planning stage and hopefully booking within the next couple of weeks.

New York is a definite destination for one week of the trip but we are completely open to one or two cities for the second week, so please feel free to throw suggestions at me. I just can't stop dreaming about Central Park in Autumn, Forever 21, Times Square, Anthropologie, yellow taxis, Urban Outfitters, Sex and the City, The Empire State Building Broadway etc. If you have any New York suggestions things to do, see, eat or shop please leave me a comment I want to know as much as possible. I am just about to download Gala Darlings guide to New York, I am sure it will result in excitement overload.

Now the hard part begins - saving!

  2. You are going to have SO much fun! I've never been to New York but have always, always dreamed of it. I think the best part of traveling is the anticipation...the planning...the excited dreamy moments you spend pouring over websites and maps.

Eeek! So excited for you! :)

  3. that's amazing I Hope you have a fantastic trip! A nearby great city to spend another portion of your tripw ould be Montreal, that's my hometown and it's only about 7-8 hours from NYC and therefore really easy to travel to by bus or plane but not only is it a different country, but you get a whole new (french) culture which I think would make it exciting to visit :)

  5. If you pop on over to my blog, on the left hand side where my blog roll is listed (That's terribly out of date, I need to add some new ladies to it!) You can find Nickie... "Wild as a Mink". She lives in NYC and I'm sure she will have all sorts of fun suggestions for you if you skim through her blog or want to ask her about it! I personally haven't been for a while so I wouldn't know what to tell you. Hoping to get up there this summer while my roommate is interning there to have another hang out session with Nickie and meet her friend Mel (Idee Geniale, also listed!). If I do, I'll be sure to keep you updated!

  11. I live here too (sort of) and can recommend all sorts of yummy places to eat--Japanese, Ethiopian, Italian, Turkish, etc.

If you are there in October, you MUST visit the Highline on the lower west side. It's an abandoned elevated subway track that was turned into a park, and the colors will be gorgeous in October.

Aside from Broadway (which is indeed an experience in itself), check out what's going on at City Center, Lincoln Center, and BAM. There's also a ton of awesome off-Broadway stuff that no one thinks to poke around for. Time Out New York is a great resource.

    Happy planning!
