Stocking filler

I have literally been through about six pairs of stockings in the last week, each ending up with a run or a hole. It is absolutely infuriating to start the week with more than enough stockings and to end it with none. I decided enough was enough and that I needed to invest in something that wouldn’t get a run after one wear.

I heard good things about stockings from Sussan from here and also a good friend of mine so I went to investigate in my lunch hour. I bought two pairs. One plain black and one grey with a print that I am very in love with right now. There nice and thick which makes me think that they may not rip as easily as cheaper brands and they are pretty warm as well. My only complaint is that I did have to yoink them up a few times during the day. They are kind of expensive the grey pair was $20 (they had a $5 off sale so they came down to $15) but I think it will be worth it if they last the distance. Do you have any stocking recommendations I am willing to try anything?

I hope everyone has a marvellous weekend; four day working weeks are divine, I am very happy to be at the weekend again.

  1. For plain black opaques, Ambre (I think that's what it's called) is great. They are stretchy, don't fall down, and 've worn them heaps without holes (even in my toes where I always get holes). I think they do fun patterned ones too, but I haven't tried them. You can buy the brand at Myer or DJs.

Those Sussan ones are really cute!

  2. I'm wearing a few pairs of '2 for $20' tights from Equip. They look nice but they're kind of too thin for this weather. I think the best pair I have were Voodoo brand from David Jones :) They just feel so nice and have stayed nice after many trips through the wash.

  5. I love those stockings. The print is just perfect and look cosy and snug. I usually wear 120 denier black tights. I think the brand I use is Ambra. It's from Myer and they are quite cosy. Although I sometimes have to keep hitching them up. x

  6. Okay - Coles stocks $12 extra tall Black, 120 denier RAZZA MATAZZ. The packaging has a girl with her hand up to her face and she's got kind of a goldy mini dress on it. Don't know if you've ever done it but I will often where another pair of knickers on top to stop the hitch problem!

  7. I need some new tights too! I had loads and loads over winter... and bought a load to keep replacing them... very frustrating! I think tights are worth buying quality :)

  8. stockings kill my life.
if i have to wear stockings i generally wear two pairs at a go - then if i rip one during the day i can just take them off and there are some underneath - and it means i am not cold!

  11. Like Gracie said, Ambra is a good brand. I have 100 denier from Portmans at the moment and they're pretty good. My sister swears by her 200 denier black tights at the moment, she said she never has to hitch them up. I'll ask her what brand they are.
