A three year blog anniversary

Today marks my three year blog birthday. I will never forget the day I decided to start this little space - I was heading into my last year of uni and wanted a space completely outside of that area of my life, somewhere I could escape too. I look back at my old posts and I have to admit I cringe a little but to be honest they were the building blocks to get to where I am - it was my foot in the door, my way to meet people and create friendships.I am so glad for the people I have meet through this blog and the friendships I have created. To know that I still have friendships with people I meet through here three years ago is a testament to how endearing this little blogging thing can be. Further more to think I could go to London, New York or Perth and be able to meet people that I have meet through this blog blows my minds - I am grateful for the friendships I might never have made.

I am far from the perfect blogger - I don't post regularly  I don't stick to a perfect posting schedule and I rarely have the latest gadgets and pulse on the latest trends. But I do read every comment I receive and feel grateful for the connections I make and always try to portray myself as accurately and honestly as I can through this medium.

I always ask my 'Bloggers of the Month' their tips for people who are just starting out with a blog and I thought that this might be a good time to share mine. Firstly be true to yourself - blog about what you love, blog when you feel like it - don't force it and do it because you love it. Don't worry about "the numbers" create a community, build friendships because at the end of the day it's the most important thing you can get from this hobby.

Finally I want to say thank you to everyone who reads this little blog and for every comment I receive. I am planning a little give away later in the week, so keep an eye out - just something little to say thank you. I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

  1. Happy 3 year anniversary Megan :) Wishing you many more to come

    xo Stephanie

  2. Happy third birthday!! I love your blog, it was one of the first blogs I started reading when I started blogging a few years ago.

  3. Happy three year blog birthday! I hope you keep enjoying it!

  4. Happy blog birthday! That's amazing it's been three years. I think I've had In The Next Room around the same time, but I took down my mail posts when I transferred over to book blogging, so in its current state it's only been around for two. Lately more and more I'm wanting a "personal" blog though, so I may have another one up and running again... but I also try to balance life/internet. Sigh. Now this comment is rambling.

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! I love your blog and I'm so happy you've stuck around this long. If you ever make it to Nova Scotia, Canada, you definitely have somebody there too :)

  5. Congratulations on reaching the third year mark, your blog is fabulous!

  6. Happy Blog Birthday lovely! I didn't realise you had been blogging for SO long! I hope I can keep blog up for as long :)

    Love, Rachel

  8. So glad you've stuck with it so that I can read your posts every day! It really is amazing to muse about what blogging brings to us . . . I can hardly imagine life without some of my closest friends I've met through blogging. It's crazy! I really have learned so much. Here's to another three years for you, Megan!

  9. Congratulations on three years! :)
I cringe when I read my early blog posts too, but I think I started blogging in 2007, and people can change quite a bit in the space of 5 years. ;)
Here's to many more blogging years to come!

  10. Congratulations!

  15. Can't believe I didn't comment on this post, I guess I thought I did because I commented on Instagram! I love it when bloggers share their blogging tips. Often it's simple things that make such a huge difference. Here's to many more years of blogging Megan xoxox
