{Wear} Khaki jacket with leather sleeves

I hate to talk about the weather, it seems like the kind of thing you resort to when there is nothing else to talk about, better left for awkward elevator situations but I just have to say it was 18 degrees today! 18 degrees in the middle of a Canberra winter, its just unheard of. I went for a walk at lunchtime and had to strip off all my layers. It made me happy but before I could run away with thoughts of an early spring I found out its meant to snow on Sunday and we have tickets to the rugby, it was all too good to be true, please think of me on Sunday sitting out in the snow, freezing my tootsies off.

This outfit is the perfect example of me getting sucked into a trend and then barely wearing it. I really try to not buy into trends unless it really compliments my style as I find a lot of trends don't really suit me or don't match other things in my wardrobe. However I spent all Summer seeing bloggers in the Northern Hemishere rocking the khaki jackets with leather (or in my case pleather) sleeves so when I saw this in Target I couldn't resist. That was nearly three months ago and I have only worn it three times. Such a silly move, so while I am trying to not buy any clothes for awhile I am determined to wear out of this jacket! I am determined to be more careful with my purchases and this jacket was the perfect reminder of why. Have you bought any "trend" pieces that have barely been worn?

The television at our place seems to only have cricket on it these days, I guess that's what I get for living with two sports obsessed guys. In light of that I am going to go to bed early and catch up on some blogs and read a book and with any luck get up for the gym in the morning!

  1. I am glad that i've survived not getting sucked into trends...that's the benefit of a shopping ban. Having said that, i've been searching high and low for a khaki jacket with leather sleeves. I am obsessed with khaki in general so this will be something slightly different for me :)

  2. you live with two guys?

I haven't really gotten sucked into clothing trends as I am not very fashionable sadly. I do have some things I barely wear but that is usually because of fit reasons. I'm moving at the end of August and I'll have to do a clothing purge when I unpack I think!

personally I need to stop buying nail polish! and tea! so I will send you lots of no buy support while I try to struggle with the things I have been overpurchasing myself :)

  3. I don't often buy in to trends, but my biggest problem is buying something nice (or even just considering something "nice wear") and then never wearing it because I'm afraid I'll ruin it - it's a terrible thing. I need to get over.

Also, in your previous post that picture of the cat with the shoe? Too cute.

  4. The weather has been unseasonably warm hasn't it? It was 21ºC here yesterday but I think the weekend is going to see the cold weather come back.

  5. I love this jacket! My cousin had one similar on Christmas Day from Country Road, had I known there was a cheaper option I would have jumped at the chance!

  7. I feel like sometimes I almost do the opposite of this, I buy things that I have almost a replica of in my wardrobe because I'm too afraid to branch out... There's probably a happy medium between the two extremes but I haven't managed to find it!

You know I definitely do this with beauty products though, I definitely need to calm down there... Xx

  8. I LOVE the jacket, I hope you do get more wear out of it! I haven't bought anything trendy for myself (I don't count breastfeeding shirts as trendy) but have recently been obsessed with buying my baby girl tutu tops... I may have gone a bit overboard, which I'm slightly regretting now (Hubby can never know!)
